The Falklands Conflict was fought in 1982 between Argentina and the United Kingdom over the disputed Falkland Islands – or the Malvinas as Rowland insisted on calling them.
Rowland was against the war and fervently in favour of a British defeat. For some reason there was little political activity by the local left during the war so there are no appropriate photos.
The ones shown on this page, however, were taken at the time when the newspapers were full of the sinking of the Sheffield, the notorious Belgrano affair, and of course Rowland's 37th birthday party.
